Grieve Family Teams Up at YC

The Grieve family is a triple threat at YC: Brothers Brynn and Ivan drive, and Brynn’s daughter Londyn was a 2024 summer staffer.
Brynn began driving for YC in 2018, and his brother Ivan got involved as a driver around a year later. Londyn grew up hearing fun stories about participants and volunteers from her dad and uncle and was thrilled to finally be a part of it this summer.
“I’ve absolutely loved getting to know the kids,” Londyn said. “I’ve heard so many things about them, and being able to put that into an in-person perspective has been so amazing.”
Working together at YC has given Brynn, Ivan, and Londyn opportunities to bond. Ivan and Brynn don’t get to see Londyn often when she’s away at Syracuse University. Being an only child, Londyn values time with family. Brynn and Londyn carpool together to and from work, which is a half-hour drive from Willowick. Ivan lives about an hour away from Brynn and Londyn in Lorain. Ivan said working at YC has given him and Brynn time to bond together as brothers.
“A lot of times, I don’t see him, and we work together at YC now where I see him on a daily basis,” Ivan said. “It’s cool working with him. It’s cool having fun with him, joking around with him. It’s also just fun catching up with him. It’s the first time I might get to see him the whole week.”
Brynn said that he loves YC’s emphasis on inclusion.
“I like that they accept diversity,” Brynn said. “There’s empathy, but there’s not sorrow. You get to see kids in their element.”
Londyn said she looks forward every day to going to YC.
“When I wake up every day and my dad tells me what time we have to get in the truck to go to work, I don’t sweat or stress or get anxious to go to work,” Londyn said. “It’s a comfortable environment and I really enjoy it. I’ve had other jobs where I’m forcibly taking myself out the door to get there and it does not feel like that all.”
We wish Londyn all the best as she starts her senior year at Syracuse University this fall!
