Eva accepting her award with Youth Challenge friends

Participant Highlight: Eva

Eva’s creativity takes on many different forms at Youth Challenge. She has an active imagination and is never short on ideas for a team cheer or her group’s skit for the Holiday Show.

Eva loves Music in the Park, humming, dancing, and guessing songs in the Music Fishbowl Game and creating her own musical instruments. Where Eva really shines, though, at Music in the Park is Name that Tune Disney Edition. She is well known for her extensive knowledge of Disney and music, and she loves to talk about them with staff members and teen volunteers. Eva is a true leader at YC, even creating her own program, Sing & Swim, in which, each Monday, when everyone would hop into the Berea Pool, participants, volunteers, and staff would gather around Eva to sing Disney songs!

In Photography, Eva always thinks out of the box with her projects. At this year’s Halloween party, she donned an orange wig and purple dress to become Daphne from Scooby Doo and win the award for Best Classic Costume. Her whole family attended the party and gave out candy during Trunk or Treating. For all her ingenuity displayed this year, she won the Creativity Award at YC’s second Annual Awards Night. (Eva and her family are unable to attend awards night, so she received the award in advance.) Eva doesn’t limit herself to the arts, though. She works hard at Pickleball and Fall Ball Baseball and has shown great improvement in her skills at each program.

Regardless of what program she’s at, Eva always brings a smile to everyone’s face with her joy and kindness towards others. She embodies the joyful, community spirit of YC!
