Race Ready: YC Trains Bodies and Minds for Upcoming Races
To be ready to race, one must stay in shape!
YC race training is a commitment — participants and volunteers are expected to attend a majority of the weekly sessions to be ready for the race. During race training, participants and volunteers are training their bodies and minds.
To exercise their bodies, they are doing dynamic stretching, cardio endurance training, and fitness circuits. To exercise their minds, participants and volunteers set wellness goals, learned about positive self-talk, and created race mantras (“I am strong,” “I can do hard things,” “I will not give up,” etc.). They’ve also practiced running and cycling for 1 minute, and recovery walking for 30 seconds.
It will be exciting to see the participants and volunteers’ hard work pay off at two upcoming races benefitting YC!
