YC Choir Prepares National Anthem for Where Will Color Take You?

Fa la la la! The YC choir program has been hard at work practicing the National Anthem to sing at Where Will Color Take You? 5K & 1-Mile Walk & Roll at Cleveland Metroparks Zoo on June 13.

During choir, the YC choir warmed up their voices and completed exercises like singing through a straw and pretending to eat an apple to strengthen their jaws. They also played games to learn about rhythm and experiment with making different noises with their voices.

In addition to working on the National Anthem for Where Will Color Take You?, the choir is also working on the chorus of “Keep Your Eyes on the Prize (Hold On).” This song was popularized during the Civil Rights movement and sung during the 504 sit-in, a crucial moment in the American disability rights movement. What a great opportunity to learn about disability history! On Earth Day, the choir had practice at Clague Park and was able to combine with the YC Race Training program. During this program, they ran as a cardio exercise to build their lung strength!

We look forward to hearing the fruit of their hard work when the YC choir performs at Where Will Color Take You? 5K and 1-Mile Walk & Roll!
