Holiday Show Highlight: All Aboard the YC Express!
The YC family gathered on Saturday, December 16, for the film premiere of this year’s Holiday Show and Volunteer Celebration production, All Aboard the YC Express! presented by Swagelok.
Over the course of five weeks, participants and volunteers worked together to write, direct, produce, and perform scenes for the film. This year, Santa enlisted YC’s help to deliver some last-minute packages. Participants and volunteers of our Dance & Drama program traversed fantastical lands on the YC Express and got derailed by some holly jolly hooligans as they raced to deliver the presents on time. During the premiere, participants and volunteers got “star treatment,” complete with photo ops and goodie bags with stars from their adoring fans. New this year, a group of YC alumni participants warmed up the crowd by performing an improv routine before the film began.
During the holiday show, Youth Challenge recognized endowment funders, the top 10 teen volunteers, and the volunteer of the year. The volunteer of the year was Katie Kimble. A former teen volunteer, Katie was chosen for the award because of her leadership in Youth Challenge’s Young Professionals for Youth Challenge (YP4YC) board.
Not only did holiday show guests get the chance to see a WOO-nderful film, they also were the first to hear from Chris about a special board match for year-end gifts! A donation from Swagelok & board kicked off our end of year matching gift campaign, helping us raise over $10,000 in donations so far. Donate here by December 31 for your gift to be matched.
