YC Teens Dive Into Theater Fun with Lake Ridge Academy Crew
The YC Teen Night crew visited the Lake Ridge Academy Theatre Department for a night of thespian activities and connection! YC connected with Lake Ridge Academy through current volunteers Emma Calkins, Liam Clawson, and Alex Albeneze. (Emma and Liam are on the stage crew, and Alex is another student at Lake Ridge Academy.)
The YC crew and the Lake Ridge Academy theatre crew did theater warm-ups together. After that, Emma and Alex shared about their experiences at YC (Liam was out of town). Once Emma and Alex shared about YC, it was time to play some theater games! The group played Theatre Mad Libs and Tableaux (freeze-frame scenes).
The YC crew had the opportunity to support Lake Ridge Academy’s upcoming show “In Between the Lines” by making send-a-star bags for cast members. Then, they got to watch the students rehearse a few scenes from the show. Lake Ridge Academy gave the YC crew some thespian rubber ducks on the way out. The Teen Night crew seemed excited, and some are hoping to go back for the show itself, premiering on March 5th, 6th, and 7th!
The Teen Night Theatre Night was a wonderful way to see volunteers outside of YC doing what they love and support them for a change. YC hopes to invite the Lake Ridge Academy Theater Department to the holiday show and other future theater-related events!
