Lisa McCafferty Friel is the YC Alumni Engagement & DEI Manager. She is responsible for overseeing the YC Adult Community, which
was created to support, empower, connect, and celebrate the adults with disabilities in the Youth Challenge community.
Lisa’s YC journey began in 1993 as a teen volunteer. She was a member of the YC summer staff from 1994-2000. Lisa joined the full-time staff in 2006 as the Program Director and Outreach Coordinator.
Lisa was a Jesuit Volunteer from 2000-2002 and taught overseas in Chuuk, Federated States of Micronesia. She has also taught locally at Cleveland Clinic Center for Autism, Lawrence Upper School, and through Lakewood City Schools.
Lisa loves being outdoors and spending time with her family. She in Lakewood with her husband Bobby, and their children, Gregory, Brendan, and Lucy.
Education
Lisa received a Master’s in Special Education from Cleveland State University in 2012. She graduated from Xavier University in 2000 with a B.S. in Biology and Peace Studies.
