Sarah Cooney serves as the Alumni Manager. She is responsible for facilitating adapted sports, recreation, and advocacy opportunities for YC’s adult population; collaborating with program staff on program planning and implementation; and connecting with YC alumni participants and volunteers as they transition to adulthood. She also assists at traditional programs (for YC’s future alumni!)
Sarah has a rich history with Youth Challenge, starting as a program volunteer during her years at Magnificat High School. She’s worked for over 20 years in various full-time roles, including Director of Volunteer & Outreach Services. In that position, she was responsible for the oversight and enrichment of YC’s volunteer team and worked to recruit, train, partner, supervise, and recognize the compassionate and dedicated team who serve as the heart and soul of Youth Challenge. Sarah stepped down from that role in 2022 to be a stay-at-home mom to her son, Liam (who will hopefully volunteer at YC when he turns 12!), and served part-time as a Program Assistant for a few years before returning in her current role. She lives in Avon with her husband, Kevin and their dog, Junie.
Education
Sarah is an ’05 graduate of the University of Notre Dame and received her B.A. in English and Anthropology.
