Fall Highlights
The final months of 2024 were packed with excitement as YC participants and volunteers enjoyed a variety of engaging and fun activities throughout the fall season.
In October, participants and volunteers YC’s annual Halloween Party, where Trick or Treat Street was a standout highlight. Participant and board member families set up creatively decorated Halloween tables around the YC building, each overflowing with treats. Before the trick-or-treating began, participants and volunteers dove into Halloween-themed games, including an eyeball marble run, a skeleton puzzle, and potion-making stations, ensuring the evening was both festive and fun.
In November, YC partnered with Cleveland’s CJ Kovacic Recreation Center in the St. Clair/Superior neighborhood to bring exciting weekly activities to participants. Each Friday featured something new—ranging from art, basketball, sitting volleyball, and cooking to e-sports. Another November highlight was an introduction to Paralympic sports, where participants explored badminton and volleyball in an intense, team-oriented setting. The competitive spirit soared as participants formed teams and faced off in thrilling relays and games.
December brought a calming yet invigorating touch with the debut of Wellness Warriors, a brand-new YC program focused on inner peace and relaxation. Over three weeks, participants enjoyed activities like making smoothies and protein balls, experiencing a sound bath and ASMR, and trying out boxing. The month—and the year—wrapped up in festive style with YC’s annual holiday show. For the first time in five years, this beloved event returned as a live performance, hosted at the Near West Theatre. Performed in the format of a radio show, complete with playful sound effects, the production showcased eight weeks of dedicated practice by participants and volunteers. Families gathered to enjoy this heartwarming finale to the program year.
